Many small businesses preach about shopping small. Makes sense, right? It's in their best interest.
And of course, I agree. We all should do a better job of supporting our local businesses. Not just on Small Business Saturday, either. But why? Why should we support local businesses?
Community, that's why.
Kristi and I attend and donate to many charity functions such as Rotary, the Racine Zoo, United Way, school activities, Miss Racine, youth sports clubs, veterans, Racine Theater Guild, Salvation Army, scholarships, and the Racine County food bank just to name a few. Rasmussen Diamonds will also be doing a food drive from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.
Do you know who we see at these charity dinners, auctions, and events? Other local business owners and employees. Amazon isn't there; Walmart isn't there; and with respect to jewelry, online sellers and chain stores aren't there either.
Speaking of these online sellers, can you depend on them to be there when you need service? Rasmussen Diamonds will be celebrating 125 years next year. We believe the community hasn't supported us solely because of the beautiful jewelry. While we pride ourselves and stand behind our quality products, we understand that we really are in the service industry.
The backbone of Rasmussen Diamonds is the relationships we build, with our guests, with our staff, with the community. We want to be able to look you in the eye with a smile on our face when you are in our store, on the street, or at a restaurant. So please, shop small, shop us. See you soon!
